An
Original* Oil Painting featuring Native American Pottery
on
Genuine Linen Canvas
*NOT
COPIED -an original design created by Nora Sallows
This
is the second version of this arrangement that I have painted. This one differs
quite a bit from the first one, which was a close-up of three of the pottery
pieces. Now I have moved the viewpoint back and shown the entire
"stage". I've added a teapot and some corn to symbolize the
nourishment the couple will give each other. There wasn't room for the plant so
it is gone. The native American blanket remains, although I have changed the
background to add drama. Originally I thought these two paintings would look
great hanging together but I didn't get this one done in time and the first has
sold already. Here is a link to the other painting, which sold last week: WEDDING
GIFTS #1
The
opening bid is just $99.00 for this great little painting that showcases Nora's
signature brushwork and painterly style. This would be a great gift for
newlyweds. The off-white vase
symbolizes the woman and the large, strong pot represents her husband. The coral
Wedding Vase sits in front of the them, symbolically uniting the two.
Traditionally, wedding vases were widely used by many American Indian tribes in
America. In some tribes, as part of the ancient marriage ceremony, the medicine
man would prepare a special potion to bless the couple. The mixture signified
the promise of deep love and eternal happiness and was sealed when the Brave and
Maiden drank the potion simultaneously from the vase, each using one spout.
Wedding vases became a symbol of happiness and remain so to this day.

This quality oil painting features colorful accents of turquoise,
peach, rust, gold, yellow and green. Although I painted this piece with a Southwestern decor in mind, the rich tones of
WEDDING GIFTS #2 will add drama to any den,
library or bonus room.
An attractively arranged set of Indian pots and vases add a
distinct Southwest flavor to this gorgeous still life painting. Bid
with confidence! I have been a member of the eBay community since
1999 and have excellent feedback. I
live close to a national framing company and am happy to offer
framing services if you wish to have your painting professionally
framed before shipping. Below are just two of the options
available. They carry one of the largest selections of quality
picture frames in the United States and their prices are very
reasonable.

This
is NOT a print - not a copy---it's an original oil painting on premium linen canvas
and is hand signed by the artist!
Up
for bid is an original 12" x 16" oil painting on premium linen
canvas with an estimated retail value of $3500 if you purchased it from a
gallery. I have a low starting
bid of only $99. Paintings of similar quality routinely sell at mid-sized
galleries in my area for $900-$1,800! In the larger markets they sell for even
more! By choosing to purchase this painting directly from a self-representing
artist you're able to eliminate the gallery mark-up.

WEDDING
GIFTS #2 by Nora Sallows
ABOUT THIS
PAINTING: The off-white vase symbolizes the
woman and the large, strong pot represents her husband. The coral Wedding Vase
sits in front of them, symbolically and visually uniting the two. Wedding vases
were widely used by many Indian tribes in America. In some tribes, as part of
the ancient marriage ceremony, the medicine man would prepare a special potion
to bless the couple. The mixture signified the promise of deep love and eternal
happiness and was sealed when the Brave and Maiden drank the potion
simultaneously from the vase, each using one spout. This is the second time I
have painted the vases and the pot so they went a bit more smoothly than the
first. The corn was a challenge and in the end I decided I had better not define
it too much or it could easily take over the entire painting and I would lose
all the symbolism. The shiny teapot I had to paint twice. There were so many
reflections from different objects in the room that I needed to tone it down and
just paint the ones that mattered: the blanket and the vases. I emphasized the
warmth in this painting a bit more than the first, although I was still working
with two light sources.

Thanks
for viewing my auction. My name is Nora Sallows and I work and live in
Northwest Ohio. I've been engaged in creating artwork commercially for over twenty years and just recently
I made the decision to "quit my day job" and paint full time.
This
work is my own original concept, from the initial idea, through any conceptual
sketches necessary to design the piece, up to the finished work of art. The
buyer understands that they are purchasing an original piece of artwork,
however the artist retains all rights to the image and the image may not be
reproduced without the artist's express written permission.
